Details of Jobs Held by Uhuru Children

In the intricacies of presidential legacies, the gleaming careers pursued by the children of the Heads of State have long been a subject of intrigue and debate.

Most of these politicians’ children opt to take after their famous parents and continue the legacy while others seek to take a completely different career path, hence breaking the stereotypes cast on political heirs and creating their own narrative.

In the case of retired President Uhuru Kenyatta, some of his children have shown promise in taking over the proverbial political throne while others have carved a different path.

Kenyans.co.ke takes a look at the jobs held by Uhuru Kenyatta’s children.

Uhuru’s second-born child and his only daughter serves as a director at the Kenyatta Trust – a foundation that educates disadvantaged youth in different sectors including academic, moral, spiritual, social, economic and life skills. This is through the provision of financial aid as well as continued mentorship.

Having graduated with a degree in International Relations and Politics, Ngina is passionate about ensuring the youth in the program are equipped with not only academic knowledge but also all aspects of life.

“It is my hope that we are able to raise a generation of leaders who inspire others not only with their words but by their everyday actions,” reads part of her profile on the organisation’s website.

Aside from the organisation, Ngina owns a posh restaurant christened the Green Experience located in Lari, Kiambu County. The hotel reportedly sits on the location where Uhuru called home in the 1980s.

The hotel is perceived as a perfect getaway for locals and international tourists who seek to have quality time. The clients are taken through guided nature walks at the large tea estate located within the land. The hotel was launched in 2018 and the event was attended by family members and close associates.

Muhoho Kenyatta

Uhuru’s last-born son is one to shy off the public limelight and only makes limited appearances. In 2017, he accompanied the then-Deputy President William Ruto to a Jubilee campaign tour in Nandi County where he was told to address the public.

Critics at the time argued that the last-born son was positioning himself to continue the family legacy in politics. Though it is yet to be seen if he will take a stab into politics, Muhoho has carved a niche for himself in the fashion industry.

He founded a fashion company known as the Nomadic – which was birthed from an idea of designing a pair of trousers from hang material. To date, he is personally involved in designing the outfits worn by models who showcase the attires at various fashion events.

Uhuru’s eldest son is also touted to take the mantle from his father’s political career since he has attended various political events in the past and engaged with prominent international figures.

These included former US President Barack Obama during his visit to Kenya in July 2015, as well as Pope Francis who visited the country in November that year.

In 2018, he was part of the Jubilee Presidential Campaign Team and joined the team involved in strategising for Uhuru’s re-election bid alongside his uncle, Muhoho Kenyatta.

To date, Uhuru’s eldest son has kept off the limelight with his final public appearance in September 2022 when he visited Azimio’s Raila Odinga at his Karen home – which came three days after the Supreme Court upheld President William Ruto’s victory.
